How it works

- 2Read the question to the group. Go round so everyone answers, or let volunteers go first.
- 3Tap Next card for the next question. Shuffle any time for a new order.
About this game
A good icebreaker question is easy to answer, impossible to get wrong and still tells you something about the person. These are written to work in a meeting with people you've just met: nothing too personal, nothing awkward.
On video calls, share your screen and go round in alphabetical order. In class, use the student set at the start of a new term. Either way, one question takes about five minutes for a group of eight.
Frequently asked questions
+What makes a good icebreaker question?
It's quick to answer, has no wrong answer, and invites a short story. “What was your first job?” works better than “Tell us about yourself”.
+Are these OK for work?
Yes. The “Work & meetings” set is written to be professional and inclusive.
+How many questions should we use?
One or two at the start of a meeting is plenty. For a team-building session, try five to ten.
