How it works

  2. 2It spins in the air and lands on heads or tails.
  3. 3Keep flipping: the tally counts heads and tails, and shows the last 30 flips.

About this tool

A coin toss is the oldest fair decision there is, used to start football matches and settle arguments for centuries. Not everyone has a coin in their pocket any more, so here's one that never rolls under the sofa.

Each flip is independent: after five heads in a row, the next flip is still exactly 50/50. Flip a hundred times and watch the tally drift towards half and half.

Frequently asked questions

+Is it really random?

Yes. Results come from your browser's secure random number generator (the same kind used for encryption), and are spread evenly. The animation is only for fun; the result is chosen fairly before it plays.

+Can I do best of three?

Yes. Keep flipping and watch the tally. Tap “Reset tally” to start a new match.
